Writing does not have to be lonely.
That is why I started a writing group.
My goal is to bring Milwaukee writers together to share ideas, to motivate each other, and to create like-minded friendships along the way.
We meet every Wednesday from 7-9pm, and while we provide a prompt, you may work on anything during this time. My hope is that you find a home within this space, and that it helps to motivate you to continue writing each week.
This group is free to join, and there is no obligation to join every time. Whenever you feel like you want to write with others, you are welcome to join!
If you would like to join, contact me.
History behind this group:
I moved to LA in 2015 to be a writer.
There I was, in Van Nuys, living in a three-bedroom house with four other people. As much as I still respect all of them, that’s a lot of people in not a lot of space. I knew early on that I’d need to broaden my social circle.
This is when I found Write It Up! in Burbank, which met at Fuddruckers every Wednesday from 7-9pm. Though I had gone to school for writing, had always written in some way shape or form, and had always considered myself a writer, it was in this group that I truly learned to hone my craft. I learned that writing didn’t have to be lonely, terrifying, dense, and that sometimes the best way to know if your writing is worth a good gosh dang is to read your first draft out loud to a group of twenty strangers in the middle of a Fuddruckers in Burbank.
In 2016, I moved back to my hometown of Milwaukee, WI.
When I moved back, I realized I was missing something. After time passed, I realized it was the intimate bonds I formed while writing with others. I missed it so much that I started my own chapter in Milwaukee, WI.
This is that group.
